Metal Building Insulation (MBI) is a resilient, flexible fiberglass blanket. MBI R19 is used to provide additional layers of insulation in systems to achieve higher R-values as well as to fill the purlin cavity of liner systems.
MBI R19 is applied either between or over the purlins or girts when unfaced insulation is necessary during the installation process. In a typical double layer roof system, MBI R19 is installed as the second layer of material between the purlins subsequent to laying a laminated layer of MBI R19 over the purlins. These double layer roof systems are capable of accommodating greater insulation thicknesses and offer enhanced thermal performance. Additionally, MBI R19 can be utilized in any filled cavity insulation system where it is not required to laminate the insulation to a vapor retarder facing.
