Manzanillo Port Ongoing Delays Threaten Import Stability

Dear Partners,

We would like to inform you of the critical situation at Manzanillo Port in Mexico. Despite the official end of the port strike, severe customs delays persist due to labor shortages and high container backlogs.

Key facts:

Over 2,000 containers are stuck at the port daily.

Container inspection staff is operating at only 20% of normal capacity.

Clearance time for each container has stretched to 72 hours.

Truck lines outside the port reach 20+ km.

Your logistics and supply chain may be affected:

Additional costs of up to $15,000 per container/month due to detention.

Alternate port (Lázaro Cárdenas) now facing overload — customs delay 7–10 days.

Up to a 25% increase in lead time for cargo reliant on Manzanillo.

If your orders are shipping from or via Mexico, we strongly recommend communicating with your forwarder as early as possible to avoid unexpected cost or delay.
